I’m sitting at a church planting conference in Williamsburg, VA and it is exciting to watch men and women with Kingdom Vision gathered together.
In his letter to the church at Philippi, Paul gives this incredibly insightful statement that is being played out, today, right in front of me.
2 Therefore if you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any common sharing in the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, 2 then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and of one mind.
There is a unique emphasis on having “one mind” in the body of Christ. As we sit here and listen to some great speakers who have been successful in Kingdom expansion there is the inevitable buzz amidst the attendees. For some, including myself, the new thoughts and dreams begin to emerge from the stagnant pond of mundane repetition. Where the well of inspiration and creativity had once been full and abundant and giving to all who had the courage to lower the pail of ambition into its clear waters, it now yields dust and dirt and everything lifeless.
But then today happens and within just a few short hours of spiritual mind melding we see the oneness of the mind of Christ take shape. Out of the dust of the mundane come the rejuvenating waters of inspiration and we start to think… We start to dream… And we do it together.
The reality is we all want the same thing. We all desire that the name of Jesus be exalted and that lives be transformed. What we have forgotten is that the well we had drawn so freely from in the past never started with us. We are all a continuation of the singular mind of Christ and sometimes all it takes is being around like-minded people who desire to see His Word proclaimed to bring clarity and vision to a seemingly hopeless situation. If you are out there and you are alone and you feel like you have hit a wall that is impenetrable, be encouraged. The Kingdom of God is the Kingdom of together and there are thousands of people that have the same love, spirit, and mind to see you succeed.
